Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) is
an evidence-based talking therapy
that has been proven to help people
with many different types of
difficulties including drug and
alcohol issues.
CBT sessions will help individuals to
understand the relationship between
their thoughts, feelings and
behaviours and to learn healthy
coping strategies that they can use
in their day to day life.

At Phoenix Futures we deliver CBT
on a one to one basis to support
individuals as part of their recovery
journey. We offer 6 – 8 sessions depending on need and each session usually lasts for 50 minutes.
CBT is suitable for individuals
who have motivation for
change and some element of
control regarding their drug
or alcohol use.
Within the Phoenix Futures service, the CBT that we offer may not be suitable for
people experiencing complex difficulties such as Alcohol Related Brain Damage
(ARBD), complex trauma, daily or dependant substance use or complex grief.
If individuals are experiencing any of these difficulties, the Phoenix Futures service can
help to get support from the appropriate onward service.
